Psychotherapist
FL
Hi! I’m Marisa. I believe real healing happens in an authentic, zero-judgment space where you can drop the act and finally say the quiet parts out loud. You don't need a robotic therapist who just nods and smiles; you need a real human who brings directness, creativity, practical psycho-education, and a solid sense of humor to the room. I specialize in helping high-achieving adults, neurodivergent individuals, corporate professionals, and people in recovery who have white-knuckled their way through life until their nervous system is totally fried. Whether you are exhausted from constant masking, dealing with severe corporate burnout, or using performance habits and substances to numb the pressure, we will get to the root of what is draining you. I combine deep empathy with active, honest collaboration so that you leave every single session with actionable insight, practical tools, and a clear path toward building a life that actually feels restful and sustainable.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I bring a diverse clinical background that spans from college counseling centers to intensive substance use recovery facilities, giving me a deep understanding of crisis, major life transitions, and chronic stress. I am licensed in both Florida and Washington. In our work together, you can expect a grounded, flexible, and deeply human environment. I don't expect you to have it all figured out, and you never have to pretend to be performing or fine when you sit down with me. We will talk like normal human beings, laugh when things are heavy, and break down the old survival habits that are no longer serving you. (And yes, virtual sessions are occasionally joined by my golden retriever, Tucker!)

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is deeply person-centered, trauma-informed, and tailored specifically to how your unique brain operates. Rather than forcing you into a rigid, one-size-fits-all framework, I use an integrated, evidence-based approach. I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R), and Motivational Interviewing, while actively incorporating Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Together, we will map out an achievable, realistic treatment plan that targets burnout recovery, boundary setting, and unlearning survival masking. Former clients describe our work as highly engaging, effective, and goal-oriented. I aim to be compassionate, blunt when you need it, and completely dedicated to helping you move out of survival mode and into sustainable living.

I believe quality care should be accessible, and I know that navigating healthcare finances can feel daunting, stressful, and awkward. I offer a flexible, pay-what-you-can financial framework and maintain a dedicated number of sliding-scale spots for clients who need reduced rates. Whether you need to discuss adjusting your fee, pacing out your payments, or simply getting total clarity on what your out-of-pocket investment will look like before we get started, my door is always wide open for a judgment-free conversation so we can figure out a sustainable plan together.
