Getting to know Marisa Journae Hart-N'Drin

As a queer, Black therapist, the lenses of identity, culture, and sociopolitical context are key to my understanding of my clients’ experiences. I'm especially drawn to clients who feel disconnected from themselves, their relationships, and their environment, and those who are so used to being relied on that they’ve lost sight of their own needs. Through our work, I aim to offer my clients a chance to write new stories about who they are and who they can grow to be.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I've supported children, adolescents, and adults in navigating childhood trauma, sexual abuse, queer identity, immigration trauma, loss, major life transitions, relationship issues, mood disorders, and low self-esteem. I strive to cultivate a space where my clients feel empowered, supported, and known by me.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Being deeply known by another is something many of us both desire and fear. Being vulnerable means opening ourselves up to the pain of judgement and risking rejection. At the same time, we offer the most tender parts of ourselves an opportunity to be seen, accepted, and held lovingly. I invite you to reach out and be met with curiosity, warmth, and care.
