Getting to know Marisa Lloret

My name is Marisa. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. I am deeply committed to my work, which is demonstrated in my ability to connect with my clients.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal as a clinician is to empower individuals and families while remaining receptive to feedback throughout the therapeutic process. I use a collective range of clinical modalities and interventions such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Passionate that therapy must meet the individual’s needs, I believe that therapy and progress are not linear, and must be tailored to the individual.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe in using a multicultural approach. Which means, I ask a ton of questions. Ranging from your birth order, race, religion, socioeconomic status, profession. In addition, I am eager to learn about your generational influences, role models, and even more importantly how mental health was viewed in your culture and family dynamics. It is more valuable and effective to understand my families lives through their lens opposed to applying a modality and a one size fits all intervention
