Mark Schlutsmeyer, LCP

Psychologist
CA
Hi there, I'm Mark! My name is Mark Schlutsmeyer, and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist practicing full-time in Yuba City, California, and part-time throughout California via teletherapy. I hold a PhD and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Miami University, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California. I work with adults on issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, shame, self-harm, addiction/substance use, grief, spirituality issues, and relationship problems. I especially enjoy working with adults who have co-occurring mental health and addiction/substance use issues. My approach I recommend scheduling a free 15-minute consultation call to provide more information and determine if my therapy approach is a good fit. Our work in therapy takes place on two levels. The first is practical, involving learning and applying tools, strategies, and skills to improve daily living, develop healthy routines, build self-compassion, and interrupt unhealthy habits. The second is deeper, transforming core beliefs, addressing trauma and emotional blocks, and developing a life narrative consistent with your core values and gifts. I use an integrated approach to support success at both levels. The practical level involves skills training and strategies from cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy. The deeper level is addressed by a trauma-informed approach integrating acceptance and commitment therapy, narrative therapy, and experiential/humanistic therapies. I also strongly value your spiritual, religious, and cultural frameworks and integrate them into therapy when appropriate. My focus I have worked for 18 years in community mental healthcare with clients from diverse backgrounds and various presenting problems.
