Marsha Joseph, LMHC

Psychotherapist
1010 Northern Blvd, Ste 311, Great Neck, NY
Marsha is a therapist with 12 years of clinical experience who specializes in helping women navigate eating disorders, emotional eating, body image concerns, chronic dieting, perfectionism, and self-criticism. She is especially passionate about working with Black women and creating space to explore how culture, identity, expectations, and beauty standards can shape relationships with food and the body. Marsha integrates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness into an individualized approach. Rather than focusing only on eating behaviors, she helps clients understand what may be happening beneath the surface and develop healthier ways of responding to difficult emotions, stress, and self-judgment. Her style is warm, collaborative, and affirming. Whether a client has a diagnosed eating disorder or simply feels exhausted by years of dieting, emotional eating, or dissatisfaction with their body, Marsha works to help them move toward greater balance, self-acceptance, and freedom.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You don't need to arrive with the perfect words—or even know exactly what needs to change. My goal is to create a space where you can talk honestly about food, your body, emotions, and the expectations you carry without shame or judgment. We'll look beyond the symptoms to understand the patterns underneath them while building on your strengths and developing greater compassion for yourself.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We'll begin by understanding your relationship with food and your body, what you're currently struggling with, and what you hope will feel different. Together, we'll identify patterns and triggers and explore the emotions, experiences, and beliefs connected to them. Using DBT, CBT, IFS, and mindfulness, we'll build practical coping tools while working toward a more balanced, flexible, and compassionate relationship with yourself.
