Martin Solis Conrado, LPC

Psychotherapist
CO
Hey there! I've got 6+ years of experience working as a bilingual therapist and am passionate about helping folks work through cultural challenges, grief, and trauma. I understand it can be really difficult asking for help or even getting the right kind when we do ask for it, but together we can help you process and manage your stressors in a way that makes sense for you. I have 3 years of experience leading a grief group and have heard countless stories of loss, as well as what people have found helps them move through it. I have lived experience growing up in another country and also try to pay mind to how different systems can hinder our ability to manage things. Being a white-passing therapist, I'm mindful of the power dynamic in therapy and do my best to let you have the freedom to say how you want to approach therapy. I earned my MEd in Mental Health Counseling from Clemson University, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support you effectively on your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I try to build a warm and humorous space in sessions to make it easier to talk about the heavy things. There won't be mandatory homework or things I tell you to do but we can explore what you feel works best for you. Whether you want to focus more on processing issues or on gaining some new coping skills, you can decide how you like to balance that or we can figure it out together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I use Headway to manage billing and Google Meet for our appointments. Consultations are a good way to see if we're a good fit and there's more flexibility if we schedule that ourselves. Our first session I will ask about your history with therapy, the things you're struggling with, and that things that you want to work on. It's okay to not always have an answer or know what you're looking for though. I'll let you take the lead with what you want to discuss unless you let me know you need a bit of guidance. Generally my approach to therapy trends towards person-centered, which just means I believe our working relationship is the most important piece of the puzzle. I also incorporate EMDR, IFS, CBT, and multicultural therapy as needed.
