After 20+ years of helping minority and mixed couples, it comes down to three key perspectives: Communication, Conflict, and Confidence (or Trust). With 33 years of marriage behind me, I understand the challenges of an intimate relationship. My latest book, "Mixed to Match," focuses on intercultural and minority relationships, reflecting this deep experience.
For the past seven years, I have taught as a professor of counseling at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I also hold a Master's in Counseling from the same university. While learning is essential, much of my worldview and strategies come from personal life crises, including overcoming homelessness and alcohol addiction.
My multicultural background is a significant part of who I am and how I approach counseling. With an English mother, an African American father, and a Puerto Rican wife, my life is a vibrant tapestry of cultures. I've had the privilege of visiting or living in over 20 countries, enriching my understanding of diverse cultures. This diversity is reflected in my practice, where I strive to create a safe and inclusive space for all.
I personally champion affordable, high-quality mental health care. My session rate starts at $99 (most are $140+). I am available evenings (TX, AR) and currently offer only virtual sessions. My ultimate goal is to equip you with the necessary coping skills to address your personal and relational challenges. I am affiliated with Cigna, Optum, UnitedHealth, and Aetna in NV, TX, FL, and AR, and now with BCBS (Anthem) in NV.
