Maryrose Myers, MA

Psychotherapist
NY
My name is Maryrose Myers, and I am a Mental Health Counselor based in NYC, offering telehealth services through Smart Therapy to all New York State residents. As a counselor, I cultivate a compassionate, safe, and judgement free environment where all are welcome to share what is on their minds. I welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and past experiences, and believe wholly in inclusivity and togetherness. I work with individuals ages 18-55, all gender expressions, as well as couples. Together we will better understand how experiences have shaped you, and what is needed to improve upon your future and begin the path to healing. Outside of my work as a counselor, I devote my time to bettering my skills as a baker and avid reader, and try to spend as much time as I can with my husband, cat, and miniature dachshund. I understand the importance of being well rounded and able to enjoy the little things in life, and I hope we can work together to optimize your happiness, too!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I want our relationship to be grounded in trust and empathy. I take a person-centered approach to ensure that my clients understand they have unconditional support and zero judgement from me. I also incorporate elements of mindfulness-based practices as well as CBT, DBT, ACT, feminist, and humanistic therapy into my practice to ensure a care plan tailored to each specific client. We will work together to form goals that work for you, and I hope for all of my clients to end each session feeling more empowered, insightful, and more understanding of themselves. Collaboration and trustworthiness will be prioritized to ensure the journey you take with me is uplifting and validating.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the first session I will complete an intake assessment to gather as much information to better assess and get to know you, your history, and what concerns have brought you to therapy and therefore set up goals. The following sessions, we will engage in talk therapy while pulling from various modalities to help you achieve your goals. Our sessions are 45 min in length on a weekly basis. Please allow 15 minutes before the session to do the intake paperwork. I PROVIDE PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES ONLY; PLEASE NOTE I DON’T PROVIDE MEDICATION MANAGEMENT SERVICES.
