Getting to know Mason Dana
We all have a story we've created to make sense of our lives. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space to unpack and make sense of this narrative in a trauma-informed way, incorporating somatic and mindfulness techniques. I focus on the whole person, collaboratively personalizing care to each client's individual needs while considering how cultural identity and marginalized experience impact mental wellbeing. I hold a Bachelor's degree from Spelman College and earned my Master's in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University, Steinhardt. Additionally, I completed a Post-Master's Advanced Certificate in LGBT Health, Education, and Social Services at NYU Steinhardt, which informs my inclusive and culturally sensitive approach to care.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I am a sex-positive, poly, kink affirming therapist and has a diverse clinical background working with LGBTQIA+, GNC, ENM, first and second generation immigrant adults and members of the BIPOC community. I bring my background in empirical research to my counseling practice, integrating an interest and commitment to evidence based practice with a deeply compassionate and relational approach.
