Getting to know Matthew Bacchus

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) passionate about helping individuals and couples pursue healing, growth, and greater self-understanding. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University and work with teens, adult men, and couples facing emotional, relational, and personal challenges. My areas of focus include sexual trauma recovery, anxiety, depression, OCD, identity concerns, relationship issues, spirituality and faith-related struggles, and personal growth. I also help clients navigate stress, shame, life transitions, and questions surrounding purpose and identity.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My counseling approach is collaborative, compassionate, and honest. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as CBT, mindfulness, and relational therapy while tailoring treatment to each client’s unique story and goals. For clients who desire it, I can also incorporate faith and spirituality into the counseling process. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, supported, and challenged toward meaningful growth and healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Throughout therapy, I strive to help clients develop greater emotional resilience, clarity, confidence, and healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. Typically, our work together begins with getting to know your story, current struggles, and goals for counseling. Early sessions focus on building trust, identifying patterns, and understanding the emotional, relational, or life experiences that may be contributing to your current challenges. From there, we collaboratively create goals tailored to your needs and begin developing practical tools for growth and healing. Sessions may involve exploring thoughts and emotions, processing past experiences, improving relationships, building healthier coping strategies, and strengthening self-awareness and identity. My approach is both supportive and challenging. I aim to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and encouraged while also helping them move toward meaningful change.
