Psychotherapist
AZ
Hello, I'm Matthew. I am a Master of Social Work graduate from Arizona State University (2009) with fourteen years of experience in the mental health field. As an Air Force Veteran and the son of a Vietnam Veteran, I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by military personnel and their families. Much of my professional career has been dedicated to serving as a Social Worker for the Department of Veterans Affairs, where I've had the privilege of supporting our nation's heroes. I bring approximately ten years of experience working with adolescents who struggle with emotional and behavioral issues. My approach often incorporates Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients address depression and anxiety. Additionally, I have specialized, extensive experience in treating substance use disorders and am well-versed in working with clients dealing with PTSD and other stress-related disorders, including racial trauma. I have a deep respect for those who are willing to engage in the process of growth and development. In my practice, I strive to foster a warm, kind, and genuine atmosphere where individuals and couples feel safe to express themselves and be authentic. Creating a safe space is paramount to me, as it allows for the development of self-understanding, self-esteem, and empowerment. If you're looking for a therapist who will support you with empathy and respect, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can work towards your goals and navigate the challenges you face.
