Knowing how to seek help and support for challenges in your life or the life of someone you care about, such as a spouse or child, can be very difficult. I have been told that I provide a safe and supportive environment that facilitates opening up and confronting issues. As a therapist, I strongly believe it is critical to meet people where they are in their life-not forcing change, but rather stimulating and motivating it by providing individualized treatment for each client. This approach means my schedule is fairly flexible, including weekend hours, and I offer individual, couples, and family therapy. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Arizona State University. Since 1996, my experience has ranged from working with adults and adolescents in inpatient mental health hospitals, group homes, in-home, and office settings. I have helped adolescents and adults develop and improve coping strategies to manage anxiety, depression, anger, obsessive thoughts, and tics/Tourette's. Couples often seek revitalization of their relationship and improved communication. Sometimes they are trying to regain trust after an affair or are considering divorce and looking for one last glimpse of hope. Even change by just one party can start the process of healing. I provide tools and support to help relationships get back on track. Adolescents have said they find it comfortable talking with me while I maintain professional boundaries and work with parents to improve their relationship with their children. Focusing on structure, rules, and learning to use natural consequences often helps parents. I have found that providing a safe environment and quickly building rapport allows improvement and change to happen within the first few sessions. Clients with depression, obsessive thoughts, Tourette's, or anxiety often take medication alongside therapy. I am able to collaborate with your psychiatrist or recommend one if needed.
