Mee-Hyea Kim, LPC

Psychotherapist
221 River St, Hoboken, NJ
At times, unconscious patterns get in the way of being your best self. Work, school, relationships, health, family, addiction, or financial stressors affect your daily life. Maybe you need a confidant, coach, or ally to help guide you through difficult times and manage day-to-day stress. I believe that building increased insight and awareness into these patterns leads to emotional growth, emotional well-being, and mental resilience. I hold a Master's in Psychoanalytic Counseling from Centenary University and am trained in CBT. I work with adults, couples, and families from all religions, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds. My approach is to partner with you to create a therapeutic relationship that provides a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space, allowing you to develop and foster positive change in your life. I am here to listen to your story, help you navigate past traumas and experiences, get to the root of symptoms, and guide you through the process of breaking free from destructive and repetitive patterns. Together, we will work to overcome unhealthy defense mechanisms, learn mindfulness, and develop healthy coping skills. I look forward to working with you on this journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect to feel accepted, supported, and guided in session by a clinical licensed professional who is also a relatable human. Research shows that the most powerful predictor of treatment success is the therapeutic relationship which is why it's my goal to develop a genuine connection from the very first session.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is collaborative; I will help you identify goals that will create improvements in your life. I am here to help you create meaningful, lasting change in ways that are both manageable and realistic. Because change can be intimidating and at times, overwhelming- it is my priority to support you throughout that process at the pace that you are most comfortable with.
