Getting to know Megan Hillman

Hello! My name is Megan Hillman, and I am a licensed therapist with years of experience in multiple areas of practice. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Wayne State University and am a certified trauma professional. I have worked with hundreds of individuals and families of different ages, races, genders, religious beliefs, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I utilize a communicative and collaborative style of therapy to help clients on their journey of healing and enjoy creating a space for personal growth and progress in managing mental health needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that every person and situation is unique, and treatment should be tailored to each individual, as opposed to "cookie cutter" treatment. I have a passion for being part of a person or family's journey as they utilize the therapeutic space for intentional healing. *No medication prescription or management offered*

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I offer solution focused treatment, utilize both cognitive and physical strategies based on need. We would start by establishing use of the therapeutic space, and create a treatment plan that will cover the needs you have. Whether you need the space for reflection and exploration, or need specific strategies we will make the best plan for you! It can be difficult to come in to treatment for trauma, anxiety, or sensitive issues. We take our time to build rapport and create a safe space of intention to heal at the pace you need.

Megan is truly so wonderful! She has helped me through so many obstacles in my life, and I am so grateful to have her as my therapist!
Hey there! Long term patient of Megan’s here to say how exceptional she truly is. I’ve been in and out of therapy for a decade and I’ve never easily developed a therapeutic relationship, until I started working with Megan. I feel heard, genuine empathy, and my favorite is getting asked questions I’ve never thought of and educated feedback. My goals are usually reached in 5-8 sessions, and my homework is easily accomplishable. I take breaks from therapy when I’m feeling stable but whenever I have a hard day I can email Megan and have an appointment set up within the next 72 hours. Working on yourself and processing any sort of trauma is hard, but Megan is a remarkable therapist to have by your side.
Megan is very knowledgable! She takes time to get to know you, and teaches you about triggers and how to handle them before diving into the trauma. I've spent years looking for a therapist that I clicked with, and Megan is it! So much progress has been made in such a short time, and I'm eager to keep going.
