Hello, I'm Melanie, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work with youth facing mental health challenges, behavioral issues, trauma, and psychosis in a residential treatment setting for seven years in Iowa. After that, I moved to the beautiful mountains of Colorado, where my journey continued to evolve. While pursuing my counseling degree, I had the wonderful experience of working with children with autism and their families, which deeply enriched my understanding and approach to therapy. Since graduating, I've had the privilege of working with a diverse range of individuals, primarily teenagers and young adults, who navigate daily struggles. My experience spans various communities, including LGBTQIA individuals, military families, and those affected by human trafficking. I've worked in multiple treatment settings, such as private practice, residential treatment, inpatient care, and crisis situations, which has provided me with a comprehensive perspective on mental health care. My approach to therapy is a relaxed and non-judgmental blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, solution-focused techniques, and motivational discussions. I believe in focusing on your strengths, abilities, and skills to help you achieve your individualized goals.
