Hello, I'm Melinda. Connection with others is essential to our well-being. We long to be heard and to be understood. Sometimes, this becomes difficult as life issues arise such as loss, attachment injury, or increasing anxiety, or depression. Thus, we are prevented from enjoying life fully - especially in relationships. A therapeutic relationship can provide an opportunity for the exploration of obstacles that prevent us from living in a ‘state of flow’ or ‘in the zone’. My approach to this collaborative relationship is informed by Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and by training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. In addition to these evidence-based practices, the research pertaining to attachment theory and the Polyvagal Theory figure largely into my work. Given that I believe that healing involves both brain and body, heart, and mind, I have certification in the trauma-focused and body-based therapeutic approach of Somatic Experiencing. I hold a Master of Arts (MA) degree and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Additionally, I am a Certified Addiction Counselor II and have completed the SonderMind Baseline Veteran Education Program. My specialties include anxiety, life transitions, military and veteran support, phobias, spirituality, stress, somatic symptom disorder, and depression. When working with me, you can expect a compassionate and supportive environment where we collaboratively explore the challenges you're facing. My goal is to help you navigate through these difficulties and find a path towards a more fulfilling and balanced life. I believe in the power of therapy to foster growth and healing, and I am committed to being with you every step of the way. If you're ready to start this journey together, I invite you to reach out. Let's work together to achieve the well-being and connection you deserve.
