Hello, my name is Melyssa MacQuarrie. I've been a licensed psychologist for 20 years. I specialize in anxiety, depression, and trauma-informed therapy. I earned my PsyD in Psychology from Pepperdine University, which laid the foundation for my clinical expertise and commitment to evidence-based care. My approach My main treatment approach is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is backed by research and helps people gain insight into their problems and learn how to solve them through mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. I'm a certified DBT provider and trained in mindfulness therapy, client-centered therapy, trauma-informed therapy, and depth/analytical psychology. I use whatever combination of skills meets the needs of the person I'm helping. My focus My skills include working with anxiety, depression (including postpartum depression), PTSD, low self-esteem, stress, difficulty adjusting to changes, personality disorders, relationship problems, and communication issues. My focus is to provide that environment and empower you to overcome obstacles that keep you from being the person you want to be. My goal is to help you feel understood and empowered. My journey to therapy Our culture loves stories of people who faced adversity and became stronger. But for me, not every trauma made me stronger; some did the opposite. I noticed this was true for others, too. Sometimes we can't get past something negative without help. I wanted to find ways to help myself and others get past adverse experiences, find strength, and feel empowered.
