Hello! My name is Mercedes, and I am a Seattle-based clinical social worker with six years of experience in community mental health, substance use disorder treatment, and crisis intervention. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I specialize in the holistic, mind-body treatment of trauma, complex trauma, and borderline personality disorder from a strengths-based, harm reduction perspective. I believe no matter what you're going through, the tools you need to get through it are already within you; my job is to help you discover and apply them by meeting you where you're at and partnering with you on your journey to connect with your own inner wisdom. I enjoy working with adults and young adults who are motivated to do the hard, but infinitely rewarding work of going to therapy. For therapy to be effective, there must be a healthy balance of compassionate validation and non-judgmental challenging. If you choose to work with me as your therapist, there will be parts of therapy that are uncomfortable, but together we will co-create a space where you can safely experience, express, embrace, and examine your discomfort without judgment or expectation, so you can learn from it instead of being paralyzed by it.
