What should a new client know about working with you?

The psychotherapy that I practice can be called "talk therapy.” I think of it as much more than just talk. It's a process aimed at growth, healing and connection; it can be spent speaking things out loud and waiting in silence; it involves sensing things within yourself and noticing things around yourself; it brings together reflections on the past, being present in the moment, and opening up to ideas, concerns and hopes of the future. It's a particular kind of working relationship that takes time to build, but I very strongly believe it's worth the time and the effort. In this kind of psychotherapy, we look to recognize and understand problems so that you can resolve or move past them. It can be like playful work, or focused play (now and then it may be surprisingly light) but at other times it will not feel comfortable or pleasant. No true exploration ever does. But in therapy as in life, you need not go exploring on your own. I’m here to travel alongside you.
