Hello, I'm Mike. I completed my master's degree in 1980 from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, and I've been a licensed professional counselor in Arizona since 2007. My journey as a therapist has been enriched by my 26 years living abroad, where I learned two languages and practiced in two different countries. This experience has given me a deep respect for cultural diversity and a broad perspective on mental health care. For the past 22 years, I've been working in the States, focusing on helping individuals navigate relationships, anxiety, and depression. My time on the Hualapai Reservation in Peach Springs, AZ, has been particularly meaningful. I spent six years there as a therapist and the last seven years as a clinical supervisor, all while maintaining a caseload. My passion lies in guiding people to think differently about themselves, encouraging self-exploration and growth. In my practice, I use a variety of theories, from motivational interviewing to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). However, my emphasis is not on the theory itself but on making it practical and tailored to each individual. I believe that for true healing to occur, the mind, body, and soul all need to be nourished. My goal is to help you achieve balance in your life and make choices that foster healing and growth.
