Michelle Knightes, LCSW

Michelle Knightes, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I am warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental, and I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable being their authentic selves. I believe that therapy works best when it feels safe, supportive, and grounded in genuine human connection. My goal is to meet you where you are, listen deeply, and help you move toward the changes you want in your life. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply looking for support and clarity, I aim to help you better understand your patterns, strengthen coping skills, and build practical tools that support lasting, meaningful change. My approach is practical and goal-oriented while still being compassionate and flexible. I often incorporate strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. I am also a certified yoga teacher, and I value the connection between mind and body, often integrating mindfulness and self-awareness techniques into the work we do together. I strive to make therapy feel approachable and collaborative, whether you are seeking short-term, solution-focused support or a space to explore deeper patterns and growth.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider's self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan's benefits.
