Getting to know Michelle Kuecker

Hello, I'm Michelle. I am passionate about working with teenagers and their families. My journey began as a substance abuse counselor with Denver Juvenile Probation-TASC, where I worked with kids in trouble within the juvenile system. I provided in-home and office-based treatment for both English- and Spanish-speaking families. My love for working with teenagers continued at the Office of the State Public Defender as a Juvenile Social Worker. There, I identified treatment needs, developed mitigation strategies, and found solutions to keep kids out of jail and prison. I am a certified Community Reinforcement Approach and Family Training (CRAFT) clinician, coder, and trainer. I discovered CRAFT while working with Spanish-speaking families at TASC and witnessed the transformative power of involving family members in their loved one’s recovery from addictions. Additionally, I use the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) to help teenagers achieve sobriety and engage in pro-social activities within their communities. I truly believe that families have the power to heal themselves. I also understand that if I ask someone to stop using drugs or alcohol, I need to help them discover healthy, pro-social activities to maintain their sobriety. Currently, I work with teenagers in the Cherry Creek School District as a substance abuse counselor. I also contract for Dr. Robert Meyers, training and coaching clinicians worldwide in CRAFT and A-CRA. My experience includes working with rural, urban, and tribal communities to train clinicians in these approaches. I live in Centennial, CO with my fiancé and young daughter.
