“Miles is one of the most caring, intuitive and insightful practitioners I've ever worked with. When I found myself in a moment of tremendous anxiety, depression and insecurity, my work with him helped me to change course and rebuild. He listens deeply, gives thoughtful challenges and advice, and has helped me to build self-compassion (and compassion for others) in a way that has really changed and improved my life. His comfort with multiple disciplines from Meditation to Alexander Technique and Breathwork to more traditional Therapy has meant that our sessions are never dull, and that there's always a new way to re-think/re-frame/tackle a problem. If you're in search of help, change, development or just deep empathy and support, I couldn't recommend working with him more. ”

Getting to know Miles Bukiet

Miles is a Columbia University and University of Pennsylvania trained therapist who reaches out with humor, embodied listening and presence. “We can do plenty of talking, but the real focus is on the non-verbal space which we tend to ignore,” Miles explains, “the real change and healing often happen, when we bring awareness to the hidden parts of our experience.” Action-oriented, results driven, Miles invites feedback, shared engagement, and mutual accountability. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, uneven self-esteem, relationship challenges, career questions, or achieving goals, Miles brings hope, amplifies your strengths, and lends energy and focus to your process, as you move deeply into a new relationship with yourself and the world. What will happen if we are successful? As your system melts out of the defensive ways it was shaped by the past, you may feel more pain or intense emotion than you are used to, but with that a new peace and clarity also emerge. What will happen if we are successful? As your system melts out of the rigid ways you were shaped by the past, you may feel more emotion than you are used to, but alongside that a new peace and clarity will also emerge. His clients often report heightened sensitivity and awareness of their inner experience, improved ability to listen and respond to needs - both their own and others, and a growing sense of internal power and emotional freedom all leading to a greater sense of groundedness and ease in life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy requires bravery, commitment, and honesty, and rewards you with a life fuller, and more alive than anything you could dream up. As you land more squarely in the adventure of your life Miles is there to offer support and accountability at every turn. As a therapist and researcher, Miles has seen how psychedelic assisted therapy can be a powerful catalyst for personal and relational growth. Miles was a study therapist at NYU’s Center for Psychedelic Medicine working to understand the impact psilocybin has on depression. He is trained in MDMA assisted therapy via the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) the group responsible for the ground-breaking research leading the FDA to the verge of rescheduling MDMA. And is trained in Ketamine assisted therapy by the Psychedelic Research Training Institute (PRATI), among others. Miles’ intensive Buddist practice includes two years of solitary retreat under the guidance of B. Alan Wallace and Roshi Joan Halifax and three years at various monasteries and practice centers in the US and Asia. He is also certified to teach Emery’s Cognitively Based Compassion Training course (CBCT) and Stanford’s Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT). Miles was born in New York City, but now lives in the Hudson Valley. He loves freezing cold water, kite surfing, physical books and wild nature. In addition to his work as a therapist, he leads meditation retreats, is a core member of a team building the Madrona Meditation app, is the co-founder of Dharma Gates (a non-profit that connects young people to meditation) and From Love (a community devoted to helping people develop healthy tech habits).

I've been working with Miles for a while, and from the first time I met him I felt safe in his presence. His patience and kindness alone have been incredibly healing, and he was intuitively able to allow me to find the places in me that I had previously been unable to access. I can't recommend him enough--he is a wonderful, smart and gifted healer.
Miles was an extraordinary support in my sessions with him. He offers wonderful presence, understanding, and humor. He has a big heart and clearly has spent a lot of time to cultivate such strong healing skills.
I began my work with Miles when I was living a very isolated life, including not having been in a romantic relationship for many years. I lost a lot of my professional confidence as a result of my response to the lock down and was gun shy about committing myself to projects that were very important to me. But within a few months of the start of our work I entered a romantic relationship that holds strong to this day and committed myself to a project that I had never previously had the courage to begin. More than that, I began letting go of my rigidity that kept me stuck in both my work and my personal life. Today, I'm able to plunge into the unknown with far less fear than before. I attribute this to Miles' uncanny capacity to help others feel seen - to provide his guidance with warmth and understanding. Add to that his knowledge about the body and how somatics play a role in healing trauma and it's safe to say that working with Miles is a gateway to another kind of life.
I’ve been working with Miles for a few years and consider him to be one of the most skilled and compassionate therapists I’ve encountered in my healing work to date. From the moment we first met, I knew I’d found an ally. Miles brings the gift of heightened listening skills to our therapy sessions and he always responds from a place of earnest reflection and wisdom. I often find myself jotting down his nuggets of insight, phrases that I carry into my journaling and meditation practice. I’ve grown immensely through our work together and I trust him implicitly. I feel grateful for the connection.
Miles has a unique ability to instill equanimity. Not only has Miles provided psychoeducation on trauma and recovery, Miles has helped me be more open to my own experience and the communion of healing through support. His peaceful demeanor and patience make me feel welcome and at ease.
