Psychologist
CA
Hi there, I'm Mona! My name is Mona Kalhor, a psychologist licensed in California, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC. I hold a PsyD and a Master’s in Psychology from Albizu University, as well as an MBA and a Bachelor’s degree from Florida International University. I use Person-Centered and Humanistic approaches to help clients with a range of life issues, including relationships, identity, and self-esteem. My approach My specialization revolves around self-awareness and personal mastery, self-sufficiency, healthy attachments, and universal compassion for self and others. Clinically, I focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). CBT is the premier method for alleviating anxiety, depression, anger, and insomnia. Solution-oriented and clinically tested treatments using CBT help clients develop coping skills, self- and environmental awareness, and improved problem-solving abilities. DBT addresses more severe cognitive challenges related to emotional instability and impulse control, with mood regulation and self-efficacy as treatment goals. ACT identifies debilitating fears and low self-esteem that arise from incongruent values and life purpose. Mindfulness strategies and behavioral modification help clients discover authentic values and work toward realizing them in their lives. My focus I work with clients facing acculturation, self-esteem, and cognitive issues. I treat depression and anxiety using talk therapy, guided meditation, and psychoeducation to build clients’ strengths. The solution to these conflicts always brings meaning and liberation from past hang-ups. I am here to support you through this process. My communication style I use simple language and explain theories or relevant concepts as we progress. I am non-judgmental and maintain strict privacy and confidentiality.
