Getting to know Monica Mishra

Working with Monica: You're bullied by an unrelenting inner critic. It's crushing your self-esteem. You work so hard to do everything right and check all the boxes, never letting down your guard, never letting them see you sweat. The worry, stress, and fear of disappointing others is exhausting. You thought once you had it all figured out, you'd finally feel okay, right? But you always feel like no matter what you do, it's never enough. It's so frustrating being plagued by anxiety, perfectionism, or even depression. And numbing out doesn't help; it just makes things worse. At what point do you get to enjoy this life? Deep down you feel broken and don't know how to fix it. This is where therapy comes in. It's time to let go of the need to constantly self-protect, control others' perceptions, and struggle to fit in. Through our work, you will learn that it's possible to balance all of your obligations and responsibilities without abandoning yourself in the process. When you get good with yourself, everything falls into place. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Columbia University, Teachers College, and a Bachelor's degree from Boston College. My training equips me to support you with empathy and expertise as we navigate your journey together. You've struggled long enough. Book now and let's get started. Therapy isn't as scary as you think. You're worth it.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My experience growing up in a multicultural family helps me hold space for you as we process the nuanced complexities of your own racial and cultural experiences. I use a culturally sensitive approach to understand your experiences impacted by oppressive systems and help externalize feelings of guilt and self-blame you’ve unfairly been carrying.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I offer interventions from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including ACT, Psychodynamic, IFS, Existential, and Narrative therapy, as well as provide therapy in both English and French. Additionally, using ACT for Couples and Emotionally-focused Therapy (EFT), I help straight and LGBTQ+ couples seeking relationship counseling for communication and sexual issues, interracial relationship differences and struggles, difficult family dynamics, and dealing with the pain of infidelity.
