Dr. Monica Reynoso, PsyD

Psychologist
CA
My name is Monica Reynoso. I am a licensed clinical psychologist, with over 15 years of experience. I have a strong passion about working with parents and adults trying to navigate and manage life. My commitment to you is to explore the depths of any trauma, hurt or pain and deal head on with any oppression, cultural conditioning, or any additional barriers so that you can be your true authentic self. My approach My work is grounded in attachment theories and it is family-focused, culturally responsive, and relationship based. I use a trauma-informed and anti-racist lens to approach my work with an active commitment to cultural humility and accountability, and an attunement to issues of social justice and systemic oppression. My focus I specialize in parenting issues, self-esteem, divorce issues and PTSD. I am trained in evidence-based practices that address complex trauma. And my experience lies in working with Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), immigrants, anxiety, depression, and relational issues. I have expertise in guiding parents to understand the meaning of the parent-child relationship and their child's behavior. My communication style I use a reflective and collaborative approach. I create an engaging and trusting space to allow you to explore and cope with difficult emotions. I want any individual to feel a sense of ownership in working with me; we are doing this together. It takes courage to reach out for support; doing so demonstrates vulnerability and openness to new ways of thinking and being. Parents have the responsibility of creating space for their kids that promotes curiosity and a sense of belonging. And I want to allow parents to have their own space with me. My journey to mental healthcare I always knew I wanted to work with people in some capacity. I thought maybe being a teacher or a pediatrician. But then in my third year in undergrad, a professor of mine asked if I would ever want to be a child psychologist.
