Psychotherapist
KS
Hello! I’m Monique Horton, and I’m thrilled to meet you. As a therapist practicing since 2014, I also embrace the roles of Trauma Healer, Negative Pattern Interrupter, and Self-Worth Guru. My mission is to help individuals and couples who have experienced trauma feel safe in the present and work toward feeling whole in the future. My ideal clients are adolescents and adults who have experienced a life-altering event, are struggling with change, or feel lost and stuck. If you find yourself feeling stuck in the past, worrying about the future, or repeating the same cycles, I can help. Whether you’re dealing with repetitive nightmares, difficulty sleeping, angry outbursts, or hypersensitivity about your safety, I understand how frustrating and hopeless this can feel. Together, we can heal past hurts and learn new ways of being. EMDR, which I specialize in, is highly effective in treating a variety of symptoms, especially those related to traumatic events. As a Negative Pattern Interrupter, I help clients who find themselves repeating the same patterns despite their best intentions. If you’ve ever said, “I’m not going to do… like my mother or father!” but find yourself doing it anyway, you’re not alone. Together, we’ll identify these patterns, interrupt them, and build healthier outcomes. You are worthy of healthy relationships, and I’m here to help you build them. As a Self-Worth Guru, I understand the struggle of setting boundaries and sticking to them. If you find yourself giving too much to others, feeling empty, or having difficulty making decisions, we can work together to build your self-worth. I approach therapy from a systems perspective, recognizing that our past experiences shape us and impact our ability to engage with others in healthy ways. We’ll identify negative beliefs, learn to set boundaries, and build self-worth.
