Psychologist
OH
Hi there, I'm Nancy! I am a caring and competent professional with 25 years of experience as a psychologist. I have had the privilege of working with people of diverse races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, and socio-economic experiences. If you're facing significant life challenges, you deserve support that honors your individuality. My focus Are you experiencing any of the following? A life transition, work or relationship challenges, past or present trauma, abuse/violence, grief/loss, substance or process addiction, anxiety, depression, bipolar, or PTSD personality disorder? My experience tells me that clients perceive support in a variety of ways. My approach I take an integrated approach based on trauma-informed, psychodynamic, emotion-focused, dialectical behavioral, and cognitive-behavioral therapies. Trust and safety in the therapy relationship are vital to personal growth and a successful experience. My communication style Clients tell me that they feel comfortable talking to me. My style reflects my values: authenticity, transparency, kindness, and compassion. My journey to mental healthcare My path began at age 19 with my own experience as a client in therapy. I decided to start graduate school with the goal of becoming a psychologist. I began working in domestic violence services in NYC and found that I had a lot of passion for helping women and children. In 1996, I moved to New Mexico to complete a PhD. My goals for you Goals for therapy are discussed in the first two sessions. Clients identify their unique goals, and collaboratively, we identify small steps that help you reach those goals. Our first session My intake process tends to be structured to get an overview of the areas of challenge a client may be experiencing presently. This includes a bio-psycho-social assessment that takes context into account (geography, culture, race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and neurodivergence).
