What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first meeting is devoted to details on the presenting problem and its background. It is here that a collaborative decision is made about the prospect of continuing to work together. My goal is then to learn more about you and try to see the problem in a broader context. I typically ask a lot of questions in the beginning phases of the work. I encourage questions and may check in with you on how all of the above is feeling. Together, we decide where the most impact can be made and it's okay if this changes over time.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I typically work from a psychodynamic perspective. It's based on the idea that thoughts and feelings that you may not be aware of can cause problems such as anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem, and difficulty with relationships. It's a talk based therapy. I'm also trained and licensed in non-verbal approaches such as art therapy.
