Dr. Natalie Birman, PhD

Psychologist
CA
Hi there, I'm Natalie! My name is Natalie Birman, Ph.D., and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University. My approach is interactive and supportive, aiming to help you develop a stronger sense of well-being as we work together on specific clinical problems. These include, but are not limited to, depression and anxiety, anger management, relationships, and other issues causing you distress. I use an integrated approach to therapy, placing strong emphasis on building a solid therapeutic rapport. My work most heavily relies on cognitive behavioral and DBT theories, while also integrating existential and person-centered therapies. I typically work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, anger problems, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. I create a caring, non-judgmental, and accepting environment where clients feel that I genuinely care and am motivated to help them feel better and reduce overall stress. My drive to become a therapist began in my teenage years, inspired by my own struggles with family dysfunction, depression, grief, and loss. This personal experience fuels my ongoing commitment to helping others in a professional role. I ask clients what they hope to gain from therapy and what brings them in. I also inquire how they will know therapy is working, seeking measurable and behavioral changes. Clients can expect me to listen carefully to their concerns and ask questions relevant to their risk level and history to begin building a case conceptualization. My primary focus in the first session is to engage the client and establish a strong therapeutic connection, alongside setting treatment goals.
