Getting to know Nedzmie (Mia) Korkut

Growing up as a first-generation American, I experienced difficult family dynamics and have lived with chronic pain and invisible illness from a young age. Then, becoming a mother added another layer to how I understood family, identity, expectations, and the parts of ourselves we sometimes put aside to keep everything else going. Those experiences taught me what it feels like to be misunderstood, to carry things other people can’t see, and to navigate expectations that don’t always leave much room for your own needs. They’re a big part of why I became a therapist and why I care so much about helping people understand what has shaped them while figuring out what they want for themselves.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I would describe my style as very conversational, laid-back, and relatable, and I want you to feel like you can actually be yourself with me. I’ll listen, help you connect the dots, teach you skills when they’re useful, and yes, call you out when you need it. Clients have described me as easy to talk to and understanding, and as someone they can genuinely be themselves around without feeling judged or analyzed. Together, we can work on setting boundaries, becoming less reactive, communicating more effectively, and feeling more confident making choices for yourself when life, family, and other people are pulling you in different directions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I connect especially well with people who may not see themselves as the “therapy type,” including people from families or cultures where therapy wasn’t something you talked about. I also work well with people who are high-functioning on the outside but overwhelmed, stressed, or struggling privately. I’m comfortable talking about relationships, boundaries, family dynamics, work stress, identity, chronic pain, and the things people don’t always feel comfortable saying out loud. I’m not afraid of difficult conversations, and I don’t believe you have to spend years in therapy to make meaningful changes.

Mia is such an incredible and genuinely caring person who is able to very quickly understand the nature of a thing and how best to process it. She is a staunch advocate and a caring person. She is so comfortable to connect with and clear in her communication, often able to approach something from many angles using many approaches. I cannot recommend her enough to any who feel like you’re talking AT a therapist, when you really want to be talking TO a therapist. She’s simply the best.
An excellent talk therapist! Very compassionate and helps you see all sides of a situation. She has helped me through a lot of different life struggles and has always been gentle and a great sounding board at all times. Highly recommend if you need some guidance in any aspect of life.
Genuinely, every interaction Ive had with Nedzmie has been positive and helpful. I have been able to utilize almost all of the coping skills and methods that I was taught in our sessions. She has been extremely patient and caring with her methods and she easily picks up on your mood and can tell when things are feeling off. Honestly, I only have positive things to say about our sessions.
Always so patient and kind . Takes the time to truly understand what I’m trying to express and gives me realistic feedback and techniques I can use to manage my thoughts and emotions.
I absolutely love my sessions with Mia. Working with her has been such a meaningful experience. She has a way of helping me truly understand myself, why I think the way I do, react the way I do, and say the things I say - without ever making me feel judged. What stands out most is how she gently guides me toward self-reflection while also giving me practical tools I can actually use in my everyday life. I leave each session feeling more aware, more grounded, and better equipped to handle things in a healthier way. I’m incredibly grateful to have found someone who is not only compassionate and supportive, but also genuinely effective in helping me grow.
