Getting to know Niccole Carrero

Hello, my name is Niccole, and I am the Founder and CEO of Long Island Family and Trauma Counseling Services. I have a deep love for psychotherapy and the power of healing through attunement. Having suffered my own traumas, I know the journey of healing all too well. Through my own healing, I was able to fully appreciate the power of psychotherapy and develop the passion to facilitate healing for others on their own terms. I wanted to create a safe space where we can foster safety and connection through a mental health lens. I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from New York University. I have provided psychotherapy to survivors of sexual abuse, human trafficking, and domestic violence in community-based agencies. I have worked with children and adults with complex PTSD using emotion-focused, somatic, experiential, and evidence-based modalities. I believe the ability to heal is within everyone and use a trauma-focused lens to meet clients where they are to carve out where they want to be. I also have years of experience working within the context of perinatal mental health and helping new moms navigate traumatic birth using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). In addition to these modalities, I have also assisted couples navigating trauma and healing, using Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples. My style is empathic, prioritizing attunement and compassion, using these evidence-based modalities and the expertise of my clients within their own narratives.
