Getting to know Nicholas Lee

If you're used to pushing through, holding it all together, or performing at a high level no matter what, therapy might feel unfamiliar. It may even feel uncomfortable. But it can also be exactly the thing that helps you recalibrate, get clearer, and stop running on fumes. My style is collaborative, practical, and grounded in performance and behavioral psychology. I’ve worked with athletes, performers, students, and working professionals who operate in high-pressure, outcome-driven environments—people who are often harder on themselves than anyone else ever could be. You might be used to pushing through and proving yourself, but in therapy, you don’t need to have it all together. This is a space to be real, not perfect. Therapy with me isn’t about overanalyzing or sitting in your feelings forever. It’s about understanding what’s going on beneath the surface, clarifying your goals, and building skills that actually help. In addition to my work with high performers, I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ individuals. I’m committed to creating a space where your full identity is understood and honored, and where you can bring your whole self into the room. You may not be in crisis, but therapy can still help. If you're ready to stop going through the motions and start feeling like yourself again, I’d be glad to work with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is a collaborative process, focused on creating a brave and compassionate space for meaningful growth and change. Together, we’ll explore your inner strengths, uncover patterns shaped by your experiences, and work toward the goals you want to achieve. I often incorporate practical tools, such as mindfulness exercises to help you stay grounded, and I’ll explain the “why” behind these techniques, empowering you to apply transferable skills in all areas of life. I aim to co-create a space with you where your lived experiences are honored, supporting your journey toward lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work may explore how early experiences shaped your current patterns or focus on creating change in the present and future. I prioritize understanding your unique experiences, especially within the context of your culture and identity, including how our similarities and differences impact our work together. I may introduce techniques to explore the mind-body connection and share the science behind their effectiveness. For instance, if we practice deep breathing, I’ll explain how it helps promote calm and focus. These tools are always offered as invitations, not obligations. Ultimately, our work together will be collaborative, tailored to your needs, and focused on helping you achieve your specific goals for therapy.

Nic is such a pleasure to have as a therapist. He is incredibly supportive, a great listener, and actively engages by asking thoughtful questions, something that’s very important to me. Rather than simply offering advice, he collaborates with me to explore my concerns and develop actionable plans while also encouraging self-compassion. At first, you might mistake his pauses for hesitation, but in reality, he is carefully considering his words. Every time he speaks, it’s with intention, and he always seems to say exactly what I need to hear. His thoughtfulness and deliberate approach make me feel truly cared for. If you're looking for a therapist who is proactive, an active listener, and helps you create a care plan you can feel confident in, I highly recommend Nic!
