“Nicole is simply the best couples therapist we’ve ever worked with! (She had three predecessors.) When we first started seeing her, our marriage was in crisis: both of us had longstanding grievances which were flaring up due to the pandemic, and the threat of “divorce” was often at the tip of our tongues. Now, nearly 3 months after our final session, our relationship is the strongest it’s been in a long time. Conflicts which used to throw us off-kilter for days now get talked out within hours (if not minutes), and topics which we’d shelved for years are now being dusted off and explored with care and calm. Put simply: we are in love again. While it would be impossible to perfectly summarize our yearlong work with Nicole, here are some highlights: 1. Nicole earned our trust early into the therapeutic relationship. She quickly established herself as an impartial “ally” who gave equitable attention to us both. At no point did we feel that she was “taking sides.” 2. With Nicole, no topic was off-limits. She would carefully listen to everything from silly relationship in-jokes to complex reevaluation of our LGBT+ identities, and tirelessly adapted all of her advice to our unique experiences. 3. Nicole assigned well-tailored “homework” between sessions. One such assignment, using “colors” to describe our emotional state during an argument, has become one of our go-to methods of conflict resolution and/or damage prevention. 4. As our relationship improved, Nicole gradually reduced the frequency of our sessions, to allow us room to autonomously grow as a couple.”

Hi, I’m Nicole Maldonado, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I help individuals and couples facing relationship issues, dating concerns, sexual trauma, identity exploration, and challenges related to sex education or sexual disorders. Together, we’ll work toward greater confidence, clarity, and connection. My approach is warm, open, and collaborative. I use CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and sex therapy to help you uncover your strengths and apply them in practical, empowering ways. This is a space where you can truly be yourself. I provide therapy in both English and Spanish and have experience supporting a diverse range of clients. Whether you're seeking healing or growth, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients can expect a warm, open, and collaborative space where they can show up exactly as they are. I honor each person’s unique identity and lived experience, and I approach our work with compassion, curiosity, and respect. Whether you’re navigating relationship concerns, dating challenges, sexual trauma, identity exploration, or issues related to sex and intimacy, I’m here to support you without judgment. I draw from CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and sex therapy to help you build confidence, clarity, and self-connection. I offer sessions in both English and Spanish, and I’m committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start by exploring what brings you to therapy and identifying your goals, needs, and strengths. I take time to understand your background, relationships, and patterns so we can build a clear roadmap for our work together. From there, therapy becomes an active and collaborative process. Depending on your needs, we may integrate cognitive-behavioral tools, mindfulness strategies, emotion regulation skills, or sex therapy techniques to support healing and growth. Throughout our work, I check in regularly to ensure that you feel supported, understood, and empowered. Therapy progresses at your pace, with ongoing space for reflection, skill-building, and meaningful change.
