Getting to know Nicole Fontenot

Therapy is a powerful way to fulfill your potential to live a deeply satisfying life. My strengths-based approach is inclusive, empathetic, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I aim to create a compassionate and judgment-free space where your goals and desires are central to our work together. I will always be honest, transparent, and open-minded as we navigate treatment, often utilizing humor to open space for dignity and safety. As a biracial clinician, I am focused on delivering affirming services to BIPOC and other marginalized identities. My education at the University of Massachusetts established my specialty in mental health and diversity through club membership, coursework, and advocating for inclusivity into the clinical research department. I am continuing my education at Columbia University, focusing on trauma-informed and culturally inclusive therapy. I have experience working with folks managing mental health challenges, grief/loss, and neurodivergence. I’ve also worked with individuals struggling with family difficulties, school, and finances, particularly young women, expecting parents, and young mothers. Seeing a therapist is a huge step toward creating meaningful and fulfilling self-development. Finding a good match for a therapist has repeatedly been found to be a key part of the process. Don’t hesitate to begin or restart your journey by connecting with me!

Nicole is an excellent therapist that provides effective solutions for OCD and anxiety. Her skills as an active listener and her empathy and ability to get the core of mental health challenges refect her genuine commitment to patient needs. I highly highly recommend her for your therapy needs.
Nicole is an excellent therapist that goes above and beyond to not only make you feel heard, but also truly understood. Her empathy and superb active listening skills reflect her genuine commitment to client needs. She is an all around excellent therapist. I highly recommend her services!
Nicole is extremely intelligent and has lots of great tools and resources that helped me grow. She always listened with care but was honest and transparent with me. I felt heard, understood and supported. Would highly recommend her!
Nicole is a great therapist who shows a lot of understanding for the individual and she always backs and supports her client in various ways. I've always felt she was in my corner and wasn't scared to share things in my life with her. She weaves therapy help with great listening skills, but never imposes her opinion on it unless you ask for it. She is smart, kind and great at her job.
I’ve been working with Nicole for two years and couldn’t recommend her enough. She has helped me tremendously with understanding my OCD and uncovering sneaky ways it’s been affecting me. After years of working with other therapists and feeling like I never got beyond surface level, I’m so grateful to have found such a creative and thoughtful therapist. I have much deeper insight into myself and a huge reduction in my OCD related anxiety.
Nicole is an excellent therapist with a really warm and nurturing openness. She provided helpful frameworks that guided my thinking and helped me reconnect with myself in a healthier way. She always brought affirmation and clarity to our sessions and really understood complex situations with grace and care, while still rooting in psychoeducational and evidence based practice. It was my first time in consistent therapy and I had always been skeptical of therapist fit especially with cultural competency, but Nicole really listened to me as a patient and hit the nail on the head every time. She brought challenge where it would help me grow, and softness and care when I needed it most. Can't recommend working with her enough. She helped me feel prepared to take tactical next steps towards my personal goals during our work together and overall has changed my perspective and self talk for the better.
Nicole is incredibly kind, knowledgable and wise. She creates a comforting environment and safe space in her sessions. She has helped me with implementing measures to stay mindful, organized and even tempered even in moments of stress. My sessions with Nicole have covered many subjects, all of which she was prepared to discuss and help with. I highly recommend Nicole.
Nicole is and excellent therapist! She’s warm and incredibly knowledgable and works hard to ensure she’s providing the highest level of care for her clients!
Having spent two years with Nicole as my therapist, I can confidently say that she was always kind and understanding, and consistently ensured that our space was one where I could be open about the issues that I faced. She is observant and empathetic, and it was with her help that I successfully navigated several difficult transitions over the two years we worked together. She never pushes you more than you can handle, but I always left our sessions feeling like some progress was made. It was with her help that I was made aware of underlying issues that I was facing but could not verbalize, and perhaps more importantly, she always made sure that I left our sessions well equipped to handle said issues. She is a stellar therapist, and I could not recommend her more highly.
