What should a new client know about working with you?

****Nicole is only accepting full-fee clients $300 at this time, superbills available for out-of-network reimbursement *** There will be a 15-minute screening and documents that must be completed 24 hours prior to your appointment Our practice name is Roots and Branches Therapy. After you book your initial therapy session on ZocDoc you will get a call, email, or text from our team to schedule a 15-minute informational appointment with the clinical director of Roots and Branches Therapy, Nicole Gonzalez. The purpose of this appointment is to (1) ensure we are able to provide the services you are looking for, (2) discuss insurance/financial questions, (3) decide if you will meet in-person or via telehealth. Nicole will also answer any questions you have. After your informational appointment, Nicole will then send you intake documents via our portal that must be completed before your first session with your therapist.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

*** There will be a 15-minute screening and documents that must be completed 24 hours prior to your appointment The first session with all our therapists will be approximately 60-minutes and every weekly session thereafter will be 45 minutes. For individuals, our therapists will begin by taking your life history to better understand the context for your current goals and challenges. Over the next few weeks, you and your therapist will decide upon your goals for treatment. Each week, you will have the opportunity to process traumas, share challenges you are facing, celebrate victories, learn tools/techniques and strategize/role-play how to use them. Over time, your therapist will offer insights into your behaviors, validate your emotions, and help you become more connected, more effective, and less symptomatic. Couples therapy is a similar process with a few exceptions in the intake process. Couples will meet for 1 (occasionally 2) sessions where they will share their history as a couple. After the first session, you will complete a Gottman couples assessment online that will help us quickly identify your strengths and challenges as a couple. In the next two sessions, your therapist will meet with each member of the couple individually to take their life history and understand the relationship in the context of their individual story. In the fourth session, you will review the results of the assessment and any insights your therapist has based on the prior sessions. Together, you will prioritize where to focus treatment. Each week, you will address current/past hurts/challenges as well as learn and practice skills to help you cope with them.

I have been seen Nicole for over a year. I have also been in groups with Courtney. I highly suggest Roots and Branches to anyone who is looking to improve their quality of life and work towards a better future for themselves. Nicole had helped me navigate difficult times in life, she has a way of uncovering important insightful events and behavior patterns that affect my personal life and my career.
I had been to a few therapists before I found Nicole and I am beyond grateful that our paths crossed. She always listens with a non-judgmental, patient heart. She makes suggestions that are right for me, which feels like a supportive partnership on my mental health journey. Nicole has helped me develop coping skills that I will take with me for the rest of my life.
I've been seeing Nicole for 1.5 years and she is an excellent therapist. I saw her in person prior to the pandemic and via telemedicine for the last year, and she is very good at connecting and communicating openness and warmth in both settings. I always appreciate hearing her perspective and find that our conversations often allow me to see issues in my life in a different, more-contextualized way.
Nicole is a warm and attentive individual who has created a welcoming space for us to dialogue in therapy. She thoughtfully guides the sessions, but is mindful to start each meeting by giving us a forum to talk about how we feel that day (a much appreciated process amidst the stresses of an ongoing pandemic). Nicole also brings her knowledge and understanding of other cultures, which helps us explore different perspectives. I highly recommend her.
Nicole genuinely cares about her patients. She is thoughtful, down to earth and utilizes evidenced based practices. She provides a safe space to explore trauma as well as every day struggles. Highly recommend if you are seeking a supportive clinician with a lot of empathy and a good sense of humor.
I have been to many therapist, Nicole is the best I've ever met. She's truly a gift and a blessing. She's very empathetic, helpful, resourceful, and skilled in CBT and DBT. She feels like a true friend that I can always count on. She helps me deal with anxiety disorder, panic attacks, depression, etc. She's the best!
Nicole is excellent and has helped me so much over the past few years. I am beyond grateful for her insight, and I am especially grateful for her support through a number of recent transitions in my life and for helping me stay grounded during this ongoing pandemic.
Nicole has been instrumental in my growth over the last couple of years. She's very warm and easy to talk to and relates to you with her own experiences. She utilizes straight talk therapy as well as DBT and has an open mind to trying different modalities and approaches. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking to make meaningful change in their lives!
Nicole is an exceptional therapist. My partner and I have been seeing her for over a year. During our time with Nicole, my partner and I have been able to communicate with each other, truly see each other and appreciate each other (and ourselves) in ways we couldn't have hoped for. Nicole is warm, thoughtful and incredibly insightful. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
I have been a client of Nicole's for four years, in which time our work together has given me a new lease on life. Nicole led me through the difficult and important work of rediscovering the 'roots and branches' of my past, and helped me to shift my behavior to work FOR me rather than against me. Nicole's style of therapy is not overly prescriptive, rather, she will help make visible the different options that lay before you on your healing journey. Nicole is a dependable, compassionate, and intuitively skilled therapist who truly changes lives. Thanks to her I am more whole than I have ever been.
Nicole is amazing, I cannot recommend her highly enough. I started working with her about a year ago; I was burnt out at work and miserable, and now I feel like a different person (in a good way).

My husband and I have been working for about 3 months. We are really excited to utilize the Gottman techniques in the work we are doing. Just the survey, helped us to begin thinking about the stucture of our relationship. We utilize techniques on a weekly basis, which has helped us begin to heal our difficult relationship.
I initially came in to work on relationship issues. My partner was physically and emotionally abusive to myself, my daughter and our fur-babies. I began to understand the cycle of power and control and how he was controlling me through fear and intimidation. With help, I was finally able to leave him. I learned to ask for help and be able to accept this help. I even filed a number of domestic violence reports and this helped in custody of my child where he only has supervised visitation. I can now understand my self-worth without him in my life. My daughter and I are living in peace and tranquility. I have also learned how to be a better parent through positive parenting training. This has been a life changing decision and I am so happy to be here.
My therapist Nicole Gonzalez recently informed me that she is moving to your practice. I've been seeing Nicole for the past two years and would love to continue seeing her. Can't imagine not working with her again and having to find a new therapist.
I work in Banking and have had a really hard time in getting promoted. I used to take every bump in the road as a personal assualt on my character both personally and in business. I have learned how to accept input and take anything constructive from the input and not look at this as a personal failure.
