Getting to know Nicole Struensee

**THIS PROVIDER DOES NOT ACCEPT MEDICAID** Hi, my name is Nicole Struensee. Welcome to my virtual office! I have over 20 years of clinical experience helping people overcome a wide spectrum of issues, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, dating and relationship challenges, making career changes, low self-esteem, coping with stress, and more. Everyone is capable of growth and change, but we all need some help getting there. Therapy is a collaborative process. I provide a warm, supportive, relaxed, and safe space to help you meet your goals, cope with stress, and improve your mood. I treat everyone as a unique individual and use different treatment modalities tailored specifically to the needs of the person I am working with. I received my Master’s in Social Work from New York University and completed four years of post-analytic training at The Mid Manhattan Institute. After graduating, I worked as the school counselor for Cooper Union College in New York City while maintaining my private practice for several years.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have over 20 years of experience practicing therapy and enjoy my work immensely. I provide a non - judgmental and empathic setting for my clients to feel safe to say everything and speak openly.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Sessions are typically 60 minutes. Our second session will consist of an intake. The purpose of the intake is to gain information about your background and reason for seeking treatment. At the end of the intake we will create a treatment plan to help establish goals and provide direction for our work together. I use different modalities of treatment including Psychodynamic, CBT, Mindfulness, Gestalt and Interpersonal approaches to help you reach your goals. If a client is willing, I also incorporate meditation in some sessions which has been proven to work extremely well to help overcome anxiety.

Nicole is an exceptional therapist who truly listens and makes you feel understood from the first session. She’s warm, insightful, and incredibly skilled at guiding you toward real progress without ever feeling rushed or judged. I always leave our appointments feeling lighter, clearer, and more hopeful. Highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking for a kind, thoughtful, and effective therapist!
Nicole has been such a wonderful therapist and after a couple months, I've seen a positive change in myself. She is solution-oriented, communicative outside of appointment hours, and very personable. For me, she makes therapy easy; easy to attend and easy to express myself. Very fortunate to have found someone like her to help me on my growth journey.
Nicole is the best. She's an amazing listener and offers the most calming presence. From day one, I felt comfortable opening up to her, and continue to meet with her weekly. Until recently, I had a difficult time being consistent with talk therapy (I'd done it every so often while pursuing graduate studies), but now, I look forward to my weekly sessions. Thank you, Nicole!
Nicole is an incredible listener who creates a safe, non-judgmental space. What I appreciate most is how actively she works with you and not just observing from the sidelines, but gently helping you tackle challenges, break down patterns, and find practical ways forward.
Amazing first session with Nicole. We had some logistical issues before the appointment, and she was clear and communicative in working it out with me. She was so easy to talk to and made a comfortable space for me to share. She already gave me some really helpful tools to start working through my issues. Really excited for our next appointment and working with Nicole on my mental health journey.

Smart therapist with a good sense of humor.
Nicole is the bee’s knees! She is patient and always gets me talking even if I’m shut down. Thoughtful and accommodating too. For example, I asked about meditation and Nicole implemented an option for meditating in my sessions. I highly recommend.
Love Nicole! She is very personable and makes you feel extremely comfortable. I have been in therapy on and off over the last 5 years with various Therapists and have found Nicole is the most flexible and caters to my needs!
Dr Nicole is a dream, there is nothing worse than the rejection of not getting a call back when searching for therapists, she got back to me right away, scheduled a meeting that day and I have been with her for 2 years now. She is a great listener and really takes the time to get to know you and your issues. Checks in with you on the side when needed, always available by text and does not push unless you want to be pushed and very insightful and just a joy to talk with.
