What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach can vary from open and exploratory to tightly focused on a specific issue, depending on your needs. I ask a lot of questions, and give advice sparingly. I listen closely, but will interrupt if necessary. I believe it is important to identify goals and work toward them, and I also see the therapeutic process as fundamentally nonlinear. As a result, we might cover several different topics within a single session, and across multiple sessions. Depending on your reasons for seeking therapy, you may see progress happen very quickly, or gradually over time. This is normal, and we will pay ongoing attention to what is and is not changing in your life, and why.
