“Nora is the kind of therapist who really listens, takes you at your own pace, remembers details, and guides you through thoughtful, empathetic questions. She is not too quick to tell you her interpretation because she doesn't want her own view to define how you experience your own patterns, or grief, or trauma, or insights. But at the right moments she gives you an insight or idea that opens things up for you in the best way. Nora's coached me through a lot of difficult situations, and even though sometimes I'll say the same things over and over, or the patters will repeat, or I'll slip back into something she helped me make progress on, I've never felt judged. Always just listened to, and seen, and understood, and I always walk away feeling better, or like there is a path to better, and I'm capable of getting there. Cannot recommend Nora enough.”

Getting to know Nora Mani

The therapeutic process often begins with a seemingly simple question: what do you want for yourself? Whether that’s hard to answer or you know what you want but feel trapped in cycles that keep you stuck, therapy is where we get to unravel those knots. Challenges with connection or reaching your goals are often the echoes of developmental trauma—protective strategies that once kept you safe but no longer serve you. In our work together, we will start by clarifying your vision for your life today. With compassion and curiosity, we will take a depth-oriented approach to exploring old adaptations and strengthening your internal agency so you can step out of those loops and live in greater alignment with what you truly want for yourself. My clinical approach is rooted in an attachment-based, trauma-informed orientation which integrates psychodynamic, somatic, and cognitive behavioral therapies with a foundation in affective neuroscience. Some of the primary theories that inform my work include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Before following my passion into clinical counseling, I spent over a decade building programs designed to foster purpose, agency, and belonging across global non-profit and corporate environments. I completed my BA at the University of Virginia and earned my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Hunter College in my home state of New York. Outside the therapy room, you can find me wandering through Prospect Park, watching PBS Masterpiece mysteries, or catching a stand-up show at the Comedy Cellar.

Nora has been a huge help to me in really understanding what I want and then figuring out the things that I can control that get in the way of that. She is also very warm and welcoming in our sessions. Would definitely recommend.
Nora is a curious, thoughtful, attuned therapist. She excels at being with humans and creating a space that is welcoming and open. I can hardly think of someone I would recommend as a therapist more than Nora.
