Getting to know Olivia Korn

Olivia Korn-Kochen is an integrative psychotherapist with a Master of Clinical Social Work from Columbia University. She has dedicated her professional life to studying experiential approaches, emphasizing the mind-body connection, attachment theory, and trauma healing. She is passionate about sharing the knowledge she has gained through extensive training, a holistic psychotherapy practice, her healing journey, and experience designing and teaching an innovative somatic-based trauma course for graduate students in social work. Her areas of expertise include body-based trauma, such as sexual assault and birth trauma, attachment trauma, women’s issues, disordered eating and body image, self-esteem, the transition to motherhood and maternal wellness, perfectionism, chronic stress and pain, anxiety, relationship challenges, dating and breakups, career-related stress, boundary setting, as well as phobias and fears. Additionally, she has a strong connection to and enjoys working with individuals navigating bi-cultural relationships, immigration, or expatriate experiences, and the unique emotional challenges that come with relocating to a new country. Grounded in a deep belief in shared humanity and the potential for people to lead more joyful lives, she feels honored to witness and support others in their therapeutic journey. Her academic background, clinical training, trauma studies, love of travel, time living throughout the U.S. and in Spain, yoga practice, personal experiences, and ongoing curiosity all inform her work and therapeutic approach. She brings a gentle, innovative, collaborative, and creative presence to her work, to help individuals reconnect to their resilience and inner healing resources.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Welcome- I’m so glad you are here. As an integrative psychotherapist, my approach is grounded in the belief that healing happens not only through insight and understanding, but also through reconnecting with the body, emotions, and the nervous system. Our work will be collaborative and tailored to your unique needs, pacing, and goals. You don’t need to have it all figured out to start—just a willingness to show up and be curious about your experience. Using an integrative approach means that I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities — including somatic, relational, mindfulness-based, and psychodynamic frameworks — to support your healing on multiple levels: mind, body, and nervous system. I believe healing happens not only through insight, but through embodied experience, presence, and relationship. My hope is that therapy can become a space where you feel empowered to reconnect with your own resilience and truth — and begin to feel more at home within yourself.

Olivia was very thoughtful. She listened to me and I found her very compassionate. She also helped me create a plan to help me with my anxiety. She was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad. This is the first therapy session I felt comfortable at.
Olivia is very professional yet warm. She makes me feel safe to be who I am without being judged. Sometimes all we need is for someone to hold space for us so we can be who we are, especially in moments of need.
