Dr. Olivia Wu, PhD

Psychotherapist
1182 Broadway, #3a, New York, NY
Welcome to therapy! It takes a lot of courage to come in and face the struggles that you are having, so I am glad that you are looking into getting treatment. I received my doctorate at Long Island University, Brooklyn campus in clinical psychology in 2018. From there, I've received certificates in relational psychoanalysis and integrative trauma treatment. I am also an eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR)/EMDRIA trained therapist. In addition to therapy, I supervise trainees and teach. As a therapist, I approach each patient with empathy, acceptance, and compassion because everyone's experiences are just the result of being human. Along with this approach, I work to be culturally sensitive to my patients, as I believe this is an important part of who you are and how you relate to others. I fully believe that we are significantly impacted by our childhood experiences, which in turn affects your relationships with yourself and other people. Therefore, my role as a therapist is to help you become curious about who you are & aware of your role in relationships and improve your satisfaction in them. I utilize integrative approaches, incorporating cognitive behavioral techniques and mindfulness skills with psychodynamic and relational modalities. My style of therapy aims to not only reduce your current distress, but to also improve your overall satisfaction in life, relationships, and your general well-being for the long-term.
