Getting to know Patsy Germain

My name is Patsy Germain, MHC-LP. If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or navigating a major life change, I provide a calm, supportive space to help you feel grounded and understood. I hold a master’s degree in School Counseling from LIU and an Advanced Certificate in Mental Health Counseling from the University at Buffalo, with more than twenty years of experience supporting teens, college students, and adults. I help clients work through anxiety, low self-esteem, burnout, family stress, relationship challenges, and the pressure to “get everything right.” I also support BIPOC clients and individuals facing academic, financial, or multicultural stressors. My style is warm, steady, and collaborative. Using CBT, ACT, DBT, Solution-Focused, and Person-Centered approaches, I help you understand patterns, build coping skills, and feel more confident managing daily life. My goal is simple: help you feel grounded, capable, and hopeful—one session at a time.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Life transitions can feel overwhelming—whether you’re in college, starting a career, raising a family, rebuilding after loss, or entering retirement. I help clients slow down, gain clarity, and build resilience so they can move forward with confidence. For teens and young adults, I offer support with academic stress, motivation, social anxiety, time management, and relationship or identity concerns. Clients often tell me they appreciate the practical tools they can use in real life—not just in session.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first session is a calm, judgment-free space to share what’s been on your mind. We move at your pace, clarify your goals, and begin building a plan tailored to your needs. Together, we create a roadmap that evolves as you do. I blend CBT, ACT, DBT, Solution-Focused, and Person-Centered Therapy. Sessions may include exploring thoughts and emotions, strengthening coping skills, improving communication, or building healthier routines. My approach is always personalized so therapy feels meaningful, practical, and aligned with your values—not a one-size-fits-all experience.

My therapist has been amazing. She listens without judgment, gives practical tools, and truly cares. I’ve grown so much since starting with her. Highly recommend!
As a quiet college student, I used to second-guess everything I said and did. Patsy helped me understand my anxiety instead of fighting it. She gave me simple, realistic tools I could use on campus, in class, and even when joining new clubs. I’m more confident, social, and grounded than I’ve ever been.
From day one, I felt at ease. Patsy is professional and deeply insightful, but also warm and relatable. She’s helped me understand my triggers, rebuild confidence, and communicate more effectively. I’ve grown so much in a short time because of her support.
I’ve had a great experience working with Patsy. She’s compassionate, attentive, and helps me see things from new perspectives. Highly recommend.
