Getting to know Petrina Yemane
Finding the right therapist is important—you should feel comfortable, heard, and at ease sharing your story. I believe your emotional well-being is just as important as your mental health, and I take a holistic approach that focuses on the connection between your mind, body, emotions, and overall sense of balance.
I hold a PhD in Human Behavior from Capella University, as well as a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree from CUNY. My goal is to support you in building a greater sense of wellness and helping you feel more grounded and in control.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I have experience working with individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, and grief. I specialize in trauma work and am trained in EMDR therapy, which can help process and heal from difficult past experiences.
My approach is flexible and tailored to your needs. I draw from a variety of therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, and family-based approaches. Together, we’ll find what works best for you and help you build skills to manage emotions and move forward with confidence.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can explore what you’re going through and take steps toward healing and balance.
