Psychotherapist
ME
I’m Philip A. Bower, LICSW. I work with LGBTQIA+ adults and others living outside the usual scripts who feel anxious, burned out, ashamed, disconnected, or tired of being edited down for other people’s comfort. My style is warm, direct, trauma-responsive, sex-positive, kink-aware, polyamory-aware, and practical. I support clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, burnout, identity questions, relationship stress, shame, emotional regulation, and the fear that being fully known will make people leave. In therapy, we look at the roles you inherited, the stories you have carried, and the patterns that once helped you survive but may now be costing you. Our work may include coping skills, boundary work, grief processing, identity exploration, emotional regulation, and building more honesty, choice, and self-trust. I draw from ACT, DBT-informed skills, CBT-informed work, mindfulness, self-compassion, narrative therapy, strengths-based care, and trauma-responsive practice. You do not have to come to therapy with the perfect words or a polished version of your story. We can start with what is true now and work from there.
