Getting to know Phyllis Siebern

Hi, I’m Phyllis Siebern, a licensed therapist with Empower Psychotherapy. I’ve worked in the mental health field for over 20 years and have had the privilege of helping many individuals navigate life’s challenges. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona and my master’s degree in Community Counseling. My work focuses on helping people manage anxiety, depression, trauma, and personality-related challenges using practical, evidence-based approaches like CBT and DBT.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a supportive, respectful, and collaborative environment. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel comfortable talking openly about what you’re going through. My style is practical and solution-oriented, and I focus on helping you build tools that you can use in your daily life. Together, we’ll work toward reducing distress, improving emotional balance, and helping you move toward the life you want.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first sessions focus on understanding your concerns, goals, and personal history so we can create a plan that feels right for you. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help identify and change unhelpful thought patterns, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills when emotional regulation or distress tolerance are important. Depending on your needs, we may also use solution-focused strategies to help you make meaningful progress step by step. My goal is to help you feel more confident, capable, and supported throughout the process.
