Getting to know Rachael Nguyen

Asking for help can be a difficult and vulnerable experience. I offer a holistic, collaborative, and supportive environment to facilitate growth and healing, and rely on techniques that have proven effectiveness. I can provide support during a life transition or help you change habitual responses to life that no longer serve you. My process helps you facilitate a deeper understanding of your own life, nurturing a stronger and more resilient current and future self. I move easily between supportive listening and offering new perspectives or tools to help you live the life you want.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have experience working in a variety of settings and with a diverse group of backgrounds. Utilizing my lived experience and specialized training, I work well with individuals who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, dissociation, ADHD and/or other neurodivergent presentations as well as substance use or addictions. I actively hold understanding for the ways that different cultures and identities shape our lives.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the beginning sessions, I will do my best to help you feel comfortable and begin telling me about what's going right and wrong in your life. I listen attentively but sometimes might ask questions or we might discuss a small step to see if you can start feeling a little better right away. We may talk about how you find your past influencing your present, or we might focus on being more mindful in your everyday life. This includes exploring how your past may influence the present, learning and practicing coping skills, identifying and exploring strengths and values, utilizing creative outlets, increasing self-esteem and/or processing past trauma. My overall approach helps you feel more confident in yourself and your own abilities.
