What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before your first appointment, we will speak for 20 minutes about what brings you into therapy, what you're looking for in a therapist, and discuss any questions you have. The first appointment is a comprehensive assessment of your history and present concerns; we will review medical illnesses, psychiatric history, sleep patterns, relationship history, patterns of substance/alcohol use and family history. In early sessions, I will listen carefully to your concerns, thoughts and feelings; as sessions progress, we will begin to notice patterns together and integrate awareness of patterns into your daily life, practicing more adaptive ways of relating to others and the world.
