Getting to know Rachel Parodneck

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Group Psychotherapist based in New York City, available for virtual sessions for clients in New York state. I specialize in providing psychotherapy to adults experiencing addiction, infertility, and mental health struggles such as anxiety and depression. I use a strength-based approach in treatment, incorporating cognitive behavior therapy, psychodynamic therapy, as well as traditional talk therapy. My focus is helping my clients create the life they've always wanted and living it to their full potential. Rachel received her undergraduate degree at New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Following that, she earned her masters degree in social work from Columbia University. Since then, she has continued gaining a well rounded perspective as a clinician, studying as a post graduate at NYU’s Silver school of social work in an advanced clinical practice program. This has given her a wide range of tools to pull from as she creates tailored treatment plans for each of her unique clients. Most recently, Rachel obtained her Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP) credential. This was a culmination of her extensive experience facilitating hundreds of hours of group psychotherapy and completing comprehensive coursework on the subject of group psychotherapy. Rachel facilitates multiple groups and will be launching new groups in the near future.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a collaborative approach to working with my clients, creating objectives and plans together to help reach your goals. I work with clients who are motivated for change using evidence-based treatment methods. Although therapy is not easy, you have taken a very important first step in getting help by even looking for a therapist.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process is going through a comprehensive intake for our first session. This includes learning more about your background information and goals in therapy. After that, our appointments will be tailored to your individual therapeutic needs. Some people do best with a guide, some people need tools, and some people just need a safe space to reflect. I am very adaptable and open to doing sessions in a way that meets you where you're at.

I worked with Rachel for over a year, and she was instrumental in helping me navigate a very challenging time in my life. Rachel is incredibly patient, insightful, and created a safe, comfortable space for me to share openly. She truly listened and offered thoughtful recommendations that helped me view situations from a different perspective. Through our sessions, I learned practical techniques to approach challenges, find solutions, and gain a deeper understanding of myself. We discussed a wide range of issues, and I always felt supported. I am deeply grateful for Rachel’s guidance and highly recommend her to anyone looking to improve their life, develop coping strategies, and move forward stronger.

Rachel was my therapist for about 3 years (I sadly had to stop seeing her when I moved out of state). Throughout that time she helped me navigate several significant life transitions and manage day-to-day stress. She is an attentive and empathetic listener; she was always very encouraging and gave me strategies to help me cope with my various challenges. We met in person for about a year pre-COVID and had video sessions after that; she was always on time. I'd recommend Rachel to anyone who is looking for someone to make them feel heard and needs help getting through challenging times!

Rachel was very professional and easy to talk to. I felt immediately comfortable speaking with her in just the first session. My anxiety and trauma is something that I am very private about. She made me feel at ease and taught me some useful coping techniques that have really helped since my visit. I plan on revisiting and would highly recommend seeing her for a number of therapeutic needs.

Rachel was my very first therapist, and I am so glad she took me on as a client. Rachel’s demeanor is calm and collected and welcoming; I never once felt like I couldn’t share anything or like I was being judged for the things I was sharing. I felt supported in every issue I shared and received some great insightful points in return. If you are looking for someone to listen and assist you while you organize your thoughts and emotions, Rachel is the therapist for you. Although we are no longer meeting, I would definitely sign up to see Rachel again. She is someone you can trust.
