Psychotherapist
274 Madison Ave, Rm 1501, New York, NY
The provider is a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern *After booking, you will receive a link via IntakeQ so you can complete required intake forms prior to your appointment* With a background in both art and psychology, I initially pursued marketing at the University of Maryland but found my true passion in mental health and therapy after several years in the non-profit sector. I earned my LMSW from Columbia University, and I interned at Rivia Mind for my second-year master's program. My interest in human nature—understanding how and why people think and behave the way they do—led me to this field. I thrive on helping others and use my empathetic nature to connect with clients, especially those processing trauma. During my first year of interning, I worked in a small, remote private practice focused on supporting adolescents and young adults with complex trauma, primarily using DBT. The experience of helping clients see their potential and make meaningful progress has been deeply rewarding.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I focus primarily on trauma, depression, and anxiety, with a belief that many psychological challenges stem from unresolved trauma. My approach is centered on understanding the root causes of these issues, and I find it particularly fulfilling to work through traumatic events with clients. My style is inviting, curious, open, empathetic, and hopeful, creating a safe space where clients feel heard and supported without judgment. I understand that trauma can disrupt a person's worldview, making the process of healing feel intimidating. My goal is to make that journey less daunting by being a steady, nonjudgmental presence. Together, we explore these experiences and emotions, allowing space for clients to find clarity and healing. I also have experience working with body image issues, young adult life transitions, childhood trauma, ADHD, and executive functioning.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our sessions, I prioritize creating a comfortable, nonjudgmental environment where you feel safe to explore your thoughts and experiences. We will work collaboratively to uncover the deeper patterns that may be impacting your life, and I'll support you as you work through challenging emotions. Using approaches like DBT, I guide clients in developing practical skills for managing distress and navigating complex emotions. My hope is that through our work together, you will gradually become more self-aware and empowered, ultimately becoming your own therapist. Sessions are a space for you to recognize and harness your full potential, enabling you to take meaningful steps toward personal growth. For those who are new to therapy, I encourage you to take your time and ask questions to ensure that you feel comfortable with the process. You are the expert in your own life, and my role is to support you as a partner in your journey of self-discovery and growth. I am here to help you recognize your strengths, work through challenges, and guide you toward a more fulfilling life. After a workday, I believe in winding down by staying intellectually engaged with the world around me. I enjoy watching historical documentaries and diving into both fiction and non-fiction books, which allows me to balance my passion for learning with moments of relaxation. I understand the importance of maintaining a sense of balance in life, and I bring that same appreciation for mindfulness and self-care into my practice with clients.
