“I was really nervous about starting therapy, but working with Reshma has been such a positive and empowering experience. She’s helped me develop DBT skills like mindfulness and DEAR MAN, which have made a huge difference in how I express myself and handle overwhelming emotions. Reshma truly listens, and even when time runs out, I always feel heard. She follows up on anything we didn’t get to and gives helpful homework so I can continue growing between sessions. I genuinely look forward to seeing her—even on my toughest days—because I know I’ll leave with new insight and support. So grateful for her care and guidance!”

Getting to know Reshma Haque

The provider is a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern As a licensed master social worker (LMSW) with extensive experience in community mental health, I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, PTSD, and life transitions. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from CUNY Lehman College and a Master’s in Social Work from Columbia School of Social Work. My professional background includes serving as a psychotherapist at Bleuler Psychotherapy Center, a nonprofit community mental health clinic in Queens, where I worked with clients across the lifespan and from diverse cultural backgrounds with mental health challenges, including adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I also provided psychotherapy in Bangla, improving mental health accessibility for the Bengali community. During my internship at The Dorm, an intensive outpatient program, I supported young adults grappling with substance use, eating disorders, and trauma, providing individual and group therapy, including facilitating Survivors Against Sexual Assault and Family Processing groups. Whether working with children, adults, or elders, I bring a culturally attuned, evidence-based approach to meet your unique needs. I have experience working with a variety of mental health topics, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and gender-based violence. Additionally, I have addressed issues related to racial identity, life transitions, family conflict, relational challenges, and general phase-of-life difficulties. I am also experienced in managing high-risk concerns, such as self-harm and suicidality.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I aim to create a therapeutic space where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to take meaningful steps toward your goals. Therapy with me focuses on collaboration: you bring your lived experiences, and I bring tools to help you navigate life’s challenges. My integrative approach includes CBT, DBT, psychodynamic techniques, and trauma-focused methods like TF-CBT. I also draw from polyvagal theory to help you understand how your body and mind respond to stress. Sessions are solution-focused and strength-based, emphasizing your resilience and capacity for growth. For those who prefer care in Bangla, I offer therapy in that language to ensure greater accessibility.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first sessions, we will identify your goals and establish a plan tailored to your needs. Therapy might involve unpacking past experiences, practicing new skills to manage emotions, or exploring how your cultural and personal identities shape your story. I work closely with you to ensure the pace feels right, whether we are addressing immediate concerns like anxiety or delving into longer-term patterns impacting your relationships and well-being. My priority is helping you feel supported and equipped to handle challenges with confidence. Whether you're seeking support for anxiety, healing from trauma, or navigating identity or relational complexities, I am here to help. With a deep commitment to addressing stigma, especially in BIPOC and South Asian communities, I hope to foster greater awareness and acceptance in mental health care. Let’s work together to build a life that feels aligned with your values and aspirations.
